Pompey Women return to Westleigh Park as they take on rivals Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup this afternoon (2pm kick-off).
Jay Sadler's side were also on home soil in the last stage of the competition, battling to a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth a fortnight ago.
Shannon Albuery’s header saw them get off to an excellent start, only for Lucy Cooper to draw the lower-ranked visitors level.
But Evie Gane struck late in the first half and the Blues were able to see out the second half in relatively comfortable fashion.
Now they are again in action against south coast opposition, facing neighbours Southampton for the first time since a dramatic Hampshire Cup final triumph back in May.
A Jade Bradley free-kick gave Pompey an early advantage in that contest, which was also held at Westleigh Park, while their rivals hit back through Rachel Panting.
Hannah Haughton had already made some crucial stops in normal time, but produced a couple more from 12 yards in the shoot-out to ensure the Blues would retain the silverware for an incredible 12th successive season.
Southampton currently sit second in the National League and have suffered only one defeat, which was at home to leaders Ipswich.
They narrowly saw off Swindon in the first round before enjoying a 7-0 rout of Ilminster Town to reach this stage of the FA Cup.
This is the first of two successive meetings between the two sides, as they meet again in the league, this time at Fratton Park, on Wednesday evening. Click here for more information.
