Pompey are delighted to announce that two of the club’s loyal partners are sponsoring the younger academy age groups this season.

The University of Portsmouth – who have been Main Club Partner since the summer of 2018 – will have their logo appearing on the front of the shirts for the U9-U16 teams.

Meanwhile, the back of those shirts will feature the logo of Milkwood Care, who are also an Official Academy Sponsor.

Professor Graham Galbraith, vice-chancellor of the University of Portsmouth, said: “I’m proud that the University sponsors our city’s football club and excited that the talented young players in the U9-U16 academy teams will display the University's logo on their shirts this season.

“About one third of our students come from Portsmouth and the surrounding area. By working with Portsmouth Football Club, we can demonstrate the value of education and encourage young people in our community to consider futures they may not have thought possible before.”

Janet Leech, director of Milkwood Care, added: “I don’t need to tell you all what a difficult year it’s been for everyone and I know that, like us, all supporters are sorely missing matchdays at Fratton Park.

“We know that, just as in our business, the whole team of players, directors and staff at the club have continued to push for the best in these hard times.

“At Milkwood Care we have been working hard to keep our residents safe through the lockdowns and thanks to the dedication of the whole team, from nurses and carers, through to cleaners, cooks and handymen, this has been achieved.

“We are particularly happy and proud to be able to continue our sponsorship of the academy. It’s so pleasing to see young players further their careers with the club and I note that there plenty of academy products in the current Pompey squad. Long may that continue.”

Pompey’s chief commercial officer Anna Mitchell said: “Both the University of Portsmouth and Milkwood Care have been valued partners of the club for some time and we are pleased that they have extended their commitment by sponsoring our U9-U16 age groups.

“We have seen many young players make their Pompey debut in the Papa John’s Trophy this season and this additional support will hopefully see more make the breakthrough in the years ahead.”
