Fans returned to Fratton Park for the first time in more than seven months to watch Pompey take on Peterborough.
And the home side won a pre-season friendly 2-0 to provide an injection of confidence ahead of next week's League One opener.
Ryan Tunnicliffe opened the scoring against Championship opposition, while a fine Ronan Curtis strike wrapped things up before the break for Danny Cowley's troops.
