Portsmouth Football Club are sad to learn about the death of superfan Joyce Tynan at the age of 88.
The lifelong supporter was a regular fixture at matches with her famous rattle and watched Pompey secure back-to-back top-flight titles in 1948/49 and 1949/50.
Club ambassador Alan Knight said: “Joyce was a lovely lady and someone who cared deeply for her football club.
“I always enjoyed seeing her at the games and she was certainly a lively personality. It’s another sad loss for Pompey.”
Supporter liaison officer Johnny Moore added: “This is extremely sad news. Joyce was a larger than life character and dedicated to the club.
“Meeting her outside Fratton Park – or at other grounds up and down the country – was a familiar occurrence and she was always happy to have a friendly chat.”
The thoughts of everyone at Portsmouth Football Club are with Joyce’s family and friends at this sad time.
