Pompey Women Sign Cherelle Khassal

Blues bring in forward

21 July 2021

Pompey Women are delighted to announce the signing of Cherelle Khassal.

The forward arrives on the south coast having left Championship side Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

She spent two-years in the capital with the Eagles, scoring seven times in 22 appearances.

Khassal made the jump to the second tier in 2019 after leaving Chichester, where she enjoyed prolific form.

A Republic of Ireland international, she has earned 27 caps for her country – with the most recent arriving in 2016 – and netted 11 goals.

She said: “I’m really happy to be here. It’s great to get everything over the line and I can’t wait to get the season started.

"Cherelle is somebody I've admired for a long time and I'm delighted to welcome her to Pompey."

Jay Sadler

“I’m looking forward to working with Jay Sadler. He’s driven, he’s really passionate and he wants the club to go in all of the right directions.”

The Blues boss added: “Cherelle is somebody I've admired for a long time and I'm delighted to welcome her to Pompey.

“She brings to the club a wealth of experience – most recently being an ever-present at Crystal Palace in the Championship, as well as at international level with Republic of Ireland.

“Cherelle is a very intelligent and tenacious forward, who will offer us a massive goal threat, as well as an unpredictability in the forward area. She is able to lead the line solely or link up as part of a front two or three.

“I can’t wait to start working with her and to see her using all her knowledge and character to support this group in achieving its ambitions.”
