Blues bring in goalkeeper

31 July 2021

Pompey Women are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Libby Kingshott.

The 18-year-old progressed through the ranks at Reading and featured for them in the WSL Academy League.

She had initially joined the Royals’ regional talent club at the age of 14 and successfully graduated in 2019.

Kingshott has already featured a number of times during pre-season for Pompey as a trialist, producing impressive performances against Maidenhead, Stevenage and Brighton.

Blues boss Jay Sadler said: “I’m excited by the acquisition of Libby. She’s a player with an exciting future and I’m glad she’s chosen Pompey as the next step in her development.

“She arrives off the back of a fantastic footballing education at Reading and joins a number of players who have made the same transition.

“I feel the environment we have, along with the quality and experience in Hannah Haughton, will provide Libby with a fantastic platform to continue her growth.”

Kingshott said: “After my first session here I could tell that the club is really ambitious and has such high standards, and that’s something I really want to be a part of.

“Making the move from academy football to senior football, I’m hoping to gain more first team minutes and experience in this environment with this high level of physicality.

“From my time here since the start of pre-season, I’ve noticed the shift in the physical levels and the intensity, and they’re both things that I’m adapting to.

“I’ve found settling in really enjoyable. All the girls are really nice and they’re all so talented. They are people who I can learn a lot from.”
