Reid: An Honour To Be Here

New arrival delighted at Pompey switch

20 July 2021

Jayden Reid cannot wait to experience the roar of the Fratton faithful for the first time.

The youngster has put pen to paper on a move to Pompey, having been training with the side for the past couple of weeks.

He has also featured in a series of friendly games, most recently in a 3-3 draw with Championship side Bristol City.

But it is competitive action that Reid is excited about and the forward is determined to show what he is capable of.

The 20-year-old said: “It’s an honour to be at this club and it’s an opportunity for me to show what I can do on a big stage like Fratton Park.

“I can’t wait to make my debut and play in front of the fans because it’s been a long time since they’ve been inside the ground.

“It’s a great bunch of lads here, with a lot of experience and talent, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know my new team-mates.

“I like to be skilful, direct and add goals to my game, while I can play anywhere across the forward line.

“The background of the manager shows that he develops players well and the staff have already helped me learn.”

Former Manchester United trainee Reid left Birmingham at the end of last season and featured four times for them in the second tier.

He said: “I made my debut for them, which was a good experience and there were boys there who have made a lot of league appearances.

“They really helped me by giving me advice along the way and going out on loan was useful because then you’re in a situation where three points are so important.”
