An application for Pompey Women’s development team to join the FAWNL Reserve League has been accepted.
The newly built squad will bridge the gap from youth football to playing for the club’s first team and enables the best local footballers to progress and develop.
This move gives the Blues – who were plying their trade in the Hampshire County Women’s League – a major boost ahead of the 2021/22 season, when they will now come up against other reserve and development sides.
Development team head coach Daisy Simms said: “It’s great for the club. It’s been a difficult season for everyone with the constant disruptions, but we’ve laid a good foundation during our first campaign and knowing that we’re in the FAWNL Reserve League now is going to allow us to build on this.
“I’m looking forward to playing quality teams, which will only allow our girls to develop with the aim of getting into the first team.”
