Naylor To Sign For Wigan

Skipper agrees deal with League One side

11 June 2021

Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that Tom Naylor will join Wigan when his contract expires at the end of the month.

The 29-year-old had been in negotiations over a new deal, but has opted to move to the DW Stadium.

He arrived at Fratton Park from Burton in the summer of 2018, making his debut in a home victory over Luton.

The versatile midfielder was part of the side that beat Sunderland on penalties to lift the EFL Trophy in his first season at the club.

Later named captain, he scored 13 goals in 149 appearances for the Blues – finding the net eight times during the 2020/21 campaign.

Wigan – who are managed by former Blues assistant Leam Richardson – recently exited administration and finished last term one place above the League One drop zone.

Everyone at Pompey would like to thank Tom for his service to the club and we wish him all the best for the next stage of his career.
