Pompey Women: 2021/22 Pre-Season

Blues announce schedule of summer friendlies

22 June 2021

Pompey Women will play seven friendly games as part of their preparations for the 2021/22 FA Women's National League campaign.

First up for Jay Sadler's side is a home match against Maidenhead United on Sunday, July 11.

The Blues will then travel to Hertfordshire to take on Stevenage – who they enjoyed an 8-1 victory over in 2019 – on Sunday, July 18.

Next on the list is a short trip to Sussex for a midweek clash with Brighton's U23 side on Wednesday, July 21.

The two sides met last summer, when braces from Becki Bath and Katie James secured a 4-3 success for Pompey.

Pompey remain on the road for a match against AFC Wimbledon on Sunday, July 25, with Jade Widdows netting twice in a 3-0 victory for the south coast side back in May.

They then return to Westleigh Park for another midweek contest, this time against Bournemouth on Wednesday, July 28.

The recently promoted club travel along the south coast with three former Blues in their ranks – Gemma Hillier, Molly Clark and Rebecca Barron.

Preparations then step up a gear, with Pompey travelling to the capital to take on Crystal Palace in their penultimate friendly on Sunday, August 1.

The last time these two sides met was in the 2019 pre-season campaign, with the Blues winning 5-1 at the PMC Stadium.

Eilidh Currie opened the scoring with a long-range effort, while Becki Bath, Roxy Lee-Stewart and Tamsin de Bunsen were also on target before James wrapped things up with a late penalty.

The Blues then round things off by visiting the Dripping Pan to take on Championship side Lewes on Sunday, August 8.

The two sides also met in a friendly in November 2019, when a four-goal haul from Bath saw Pompey run out 4-2 victors.
