Williams Agrees Oxford Move

Winger leaves Fratton Park

9 June 2021

Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that Ryan Williams will sign for Oxford when his contract expires at the end of the month.

The winger had been in negotiations over a new deal following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign, but has opted for a move to the Kassam Stadium.

A graduate of the Blues academy, he made his Blues debut in a Championship draw at Middlesbrough in the summer of 2011.

Williams left for Fulham a few months later and went on to play for Barnsley and Rotherham – as well having a loan stint with Oxford – before returning to Fratton Park in June 2019.

He scored eight goals in 91 appearances overall for the club and netted nine times last term, including a match-winning brace at Ipswich.

Oxford pipped Pompey to a play-off spot last month, but will be playing League One football again after losing 6-3 on aggregate to Blackpool.

Everyone at Fratton Park would like to thank Ryan for his service to the club and we wish him all the best for the future.
