A Message From Michael Eisner

Pompey chairman addresses supporters

21 March 2021

Unfortunately, it has been an extremely difficult year for everyone around the globe, with the Covid-19 pandemic denying us many of the freedoms we previously took for granted – and having a direct personal impact on our lives, natural habits, and livelihoods.

Thankfully, things slowly seem to be changing for the better and hopefully we will soon be in a position where we can once again enjoy simple pleasures, such as travelling, going out for a meal with family and friends, or even being able to attend a football game!

Of course, we also look forward to the day when we can join you at Fratton Park and are able to welcome back Pompey supporters to once again fervently cheer on the team.

Even watching from across the pond, I think we can all agree that football is just not the same when matches have to take place behind closed doors.

In addition to the worldwide havoc brought by Covid-19 – and on a more personal level – it has been a tough past few weeks and results that led to Kenny Jackett’s departure as manager after almost four years in charge.

"When speaking with them this last week, we were all super impressed with their passion, desire and winning attitude."

He leaves the club with an excellent win percentage and having taken the side to EFL Trophy glory at Wembley in 2019 – a day I will remember for the rest of my life.

I’m sure that Kenny will go on to enjoy more success elsewhere and I would like to thank him for all his hard work and the foundations he has established for us to continue our upward journey.

It's a new dawn and I am delighted to now welcome Danny and Nicky Cowley to the club. When speaking with them this last week, we were all super impressed with their passion, desire and winning attitude. We naturally wish them every success for the future.

Finally, I would also like to make clear and stress once again that the board of directors, my family and I have been, and remain, fully committed to Portsmouth Football Club – in the short, medium and long-term.

The day draws ever closer that we can see you all once again at Fratton Park!

As always, Play up Pompey!
