Pompey have been drawn away to Exeter City in the second round of the Papa John’s Trophy.
The tie will be played at St James Park in the week commencing November 29, with a confirmed date and ticket details announced in due course.
A 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace U21s on Tuesday night saw the Blues sneak into the knockout stages, while the Grecians finished top of Southern Group E.
The home side were losing 2-1 as the game entered stoppage-time, only for goals from Cameron McGeehan and John Marquis to secure a remarkable turnaround.
Meanwhile, Exeter emerged 2-0 victors in a first round contest in September 2015 before the group stages were introduced.
