Injury Update: Rotherham (A)

Team news ahead of League One contest

14 October 2021

Pompey are waiting to learn the extent of injuries picked up by Paul Downing and Ellis Harrison.

The duo both limped off during Tuesday evening’s Papa John’s Trophy defeat to Sutton at Fratton Park.

Downing was brought off just before half-time with a hamstring problem, while substitute Harrison lasted just 10 minutes before hurting his ankle.

And Danny Cowley also has to work out how to replace suspended forward Ronan Curtis at Rotherham this weekend.

The Blues boss said: “Paul and Ellis are both waiting for scans and we won’t know more until we get the results from them.

"There are a number of options for us to consider and so it’s up to us to make sure we select the right option."

“Ellis still has swelling around both sides of his ankle, while Paul can feel the hamstring in his everyday life.

“Haji Mnoga also went off against Sutton and wasn't out there today, but he’s fine and should be able to return tomorrow.

“We’ve got Connor Ogilvie ready to bring back into the group as well. He’s trained fully all week and is a good option to have.

“Ronan is suspended and you never want to lose a key player – which he definitely is – but it created an opportunity.

“There are a number of options for us to consider and so it’s up to us to make sure we select the right option.”
