We Will Remember Them

Bolton fixture is Pompey's annual remembrance match

26 October 2021

Remembrance Sunday

Ahead of Saturday’s match against Bolton at Fratton Park, Portsmouth Football Club will remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Royal Marines Corps of Drums will be in attendance, while both sides will join the Armed Forces Supporters’ Club in laying a wreath on the pitch.

A video of the late John Jenkins MBE reading the Ode of Remembrance will be played on the big screen.

This will be followed by the referee’s whistle, at which point a bugler will play the Last Post and we ask that supporters join us in a minute of silence.

Fans can also help raise funds for The Royal British Legion, who are holding a bucket collection outside the stadium on Saturday.

The Bolton match was chosen as our annual remembrance fixture earlier in the season, as it was previously the closest guaranteed home match to Armistice Day, enabling us to ensure that as many fans as possible can join us in paying our respects.

The club are also pleased to welcome members of the Armed Forces Supporters’ Club and Pompey Pals, as well as members of the armed forces, to the game as part of the ‘Tickets for Troops’ scheme.

A limited number of PFC poppy pin badges are available to buy in the club shop on Anson Road or alternatively they can be purchased online here. All profits will benefit the work of the Royal British Legion.
