Miguel Azeez could make his Pompey debut in this weekend’s League One contest at MK Dons.
The teenage Arsenal midfielder became the 13th of 14 summer signings when he completed a season-long loan switch at the end of last month.
He immediately went away on international duty and started England U20s 6-1 victory over Romania on Monday.
But Azeez has now arrived on the south coast and feels he has what it takes to impress in senior football.
He said: “The players you’re competing against will have a lot more experience and so it might take a few games to get into it.
“But I just need to remain grounded and once I do get going, then I’m sure that everything will be good.
"I’ll be facing guys who are older and stronger than me, but it’s important to come up against that in order to test myself."
“The physicality side of it doesn’t really worry me because I’m a strong boy and will relish the challenges.
“I’ll be facing guys who are older and stronger than me, but it’s important to come up against that in order to test myself.
“You will always get 100 per cent from me and hopefully I can excite the fans and also score some goals.
“I’m really looking forward to Saturday and it will great for me to get out onto the pitch and show the best of my ability.”
Azeez is hoping to impress a mammoth away crowd when Pompey make the trip to Stadium MK.
He said: “I’ve been told how good the supporters are here and I’m looking forward to getting the chance to play in front of them.”
