Kieron Freeman insists that Pompey will never be happy to collect a single point on the road.
That was the outcome at Charlton on Saturday, with the home side twice battling from behind to secure a claim of the spoils.
Now the Blues will look to secure a valuable League One victory when they visit Burton for a midweek contest.
And with the side looking much brighter in their past two fixtures, Freeman is not prepared to let the standards drop
The defender said: “Charlton were a Championship team a few years ago and we’re disappointed to only leave there with a point on Saturday.
“So we’re asking high standards of ourselves – as we should do – and the fans are doing exactly the same.
“That’s the level we’re at now – we’re not going to be happy with a draw on the road and that won’t be the case for every team. We expect to win and to move up the league table.
"That’s the level we’re at now – we’re not going to be happy with a draw on the road."
“The two goals we scored at the weekend were excellent and I think everyone touched the ball for the first one.
“The fans made it feel like a home game, so there’s no reason why we can’t go away from Fratton Park and do well this season.
“We know that we’ll be backed well again at Burton and so we want to put on a good performance for the supporters.”
Pompey will look to get their own performance right, but Freeman revealed that they have looked closely at their hosts.
He said: “We do a lot of work at the training ground to analyse our opponents and work out how we can hurt them.
“The staff here help us as much as they can and if you want to be successful, then you need everyone working together – not just the players.
“It’s a big collective here at Pompey and we’re all pushing towards the same goal. Everyone’s on board with that.”
