Match Preview: Hounslow v Pompey Women

Blues back in action on Sunday

25 September 2021

Pompey Women are back on the road when they visit Hounslow on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The league contest comes after the Blues had a break in their schedule last weekend.

They were beaten in the National League Cup determining round – which decides whether clubs enter the cup or plate competition – by Chichester & Selsey in their last outing a fortnight ago.

Jay Sadler's side were most recently in league action at the start of September, when they thrashed Keynsham 6-1 at Westleigh Park.

Cherelle Khassal bagged a brace on that occasions, while Shannon Albuery, Hayley Bridge, Tamsin de Bunsen and Emma Jones were also on target.

The last time they faced off with Hounslow was back in October 2020, as Becki Bath's brace and a first Pompey goal from Ava Rowbotham sealed the points.

Sunday's opponents sit bottom of the table and are still looking to get their first points on the board.

Their most recent contest also took place in the League Cup and resulted in a defeat to lower-ranked Bournemouth.

Sadler will be without five members of his squad on Sunday, with Jazz Younger (groin) and Jade Bradley (muscle strain) set to return to training next week.

Cherelle Khassal is recovering from a minor operation, while Laura Ingram and Emma Jones are long-term absentees.

The game is being held at Hanworth Villa’s Rectory Meadow (TW13 6PW), with tickets available to buy at the turnstiles. They are priced £4 for adults, with free entry for under-16s.
