Match Preview: Pompey Women v Chichester

Blues in cup action

10 September 2021

Pompey Women turn their attention to the FA Women's National League Cup this Sunday as they welcome Chichester to Westleigh Park (2pm kick-off)

The clash is the Blues' third successive home fixture after a draw against Oxford and a victory against Keynsham.

Carly Johns' early strike was cancelled out by forward Shannon Albuery on the half-hour mark to earn Jay Sadler's side a point in the former.

Cherelle Khassal then struck twice, while Hayley Bridge, Shannon Albuery, Tamsin de Bunsen and Emma Jones also found target against Keynsham last weekend.

The last meeting with Chichester & Selsey was back in September 2020, with Pompey falling to a late defeat.

Becki Bath struck back after they had fallen behind to a Megan Fox strike before a goalmouth scramble led to Amber Howden netting the winner for the Sussex outift.

Sunday's visitors sit ninth in the National League standings, with four points picked up from five games.

Their only victory of the season so far came against Oxford, while they also battled from behind to pick up a point against London Bees.
