Rotherham will be aiming to climb back into the automatic promotion places when they visit Fratton Park on Tuesday evening.
But Aiden O’Brien is more concerned with how Pompey perform in the rearranged League One contest.
It is the first of four home games in the final six fixtures of the 2021/22 League One campaign, with Lincoln, Gillingham and Wigan all heading to the south coast in the space of a fortnight.
And after a disappointing display in defeat at Cheltenham at the weekend, O’Brien is looking for an improvement.
The forward said: “We’ve got to go out there and win the game – it’s as simple as that. We should only be targeting three points when we’re at home.
“So we need to make sure that apply ourselves properly from the very start and hopefully that will ensure we get a positive result.
"Instead of worrying about what they’re going to do us, we have to make sure that we put pressure on them."
“We can’t be too concerned about what Rotherham are doing and just need to focus on getting our own performance right.
“Instead of worrying about what they’re going to do us, we have to make sure that we put pressure on them.
“Of course it’s going to be a hard game and we’re going to need to be at our best, but I can’t wait to get going.
“We need to show some intensity and start to believe in ourselves a bit more because we know what we can do.
“There are six games left of the season and we want to win as many of them as possible – we want to win all six.
“That has to be the plan for us and although everyone was down after the Cheltenham match, we’re past that now and looking forward.”
