Raggett Hoping To Spoil Wigan’s Party

Defender looking forward to final Fratton fixture

26 April 2022

Sean Raggett is looking forward to running out at Fratton Park for one last time this season.

Pompey welcome title-chasing Wigan this evening for their final home fixture of the 2021/22 campaign.

It is a contest that sees Jack Whatmough and Tom Naylor return to the south coast and looking to secure a spot in the Championship.

But Raggett is hoping the Blues can frustrate them and extend their unbeaten home run to 10 matches.

The centre-back said: “It’s a great place to play football and the fans turn out in large numbers, so we’re all excited for one more game there this season.

“There have been some tough times and yet our supporters have always stuck by us and helped give us an extra edge.

"I got on well with Tom and Jack when they were here and I hope that they do get promoted – just not on Tuesday!"

“You need that to pull you through on some occasions and hopefully they can do the same thing against Wigan.

“We’re looking to extend our long unbeaten run at home, which would put us in a good place going into the summer.

Raggett received the ‘Player of the Season’ trophy prior to Saturday’s League One victory over Gillingham.

He said: “There are some good players in this squad, so to get voted for by the fans is something that does men a lot to me.

“I’ve had a little look at the trophy and there are some pretty big names on there, so it’s a real honour.”
