Owen Dale has probably not had a lot of sleep over the past few days.
Becoming a father is not conducive to rest and relaxation, but he immediately followed that by travelling from one end of the country to the other.
The winger has moved to the south coast to complete a season-long loan switch from Blackpool to Pompey.
To say it has been a frenetic period in his life would be an understatement – not that Dale is complaining.
The 23-year-old said: “It’s been a hectic weekend, but there’s been nothing but good things – a lot of positives.
“I was made up with the arrival of my firstborn and then getting down here is another thing I’m buzzing about.
"I like to create things – goals and assists – and hopefully I can bring a bit of excitement."
“I’d spoken to the gaffer at this time last year and had good conversations with him. It was a no-brainer really.
“This is a massive club with big ambitions and so when the opportunity came around, I was more than happy to come here.
“I like to be direct and get at people in one-on-one situations. I like to create things – goals and assists – and hopefully I can bring a bit of excitement.”
Dale’s arrival followed hot on the heels of the signing of midfielder Tom Lowery, with the duo previously playing together at Crewe.
He said: “It’s always nice when you walk through the door and see some faces that you already know.
“But I’ve met all the lads now and it’s a great group we’ve got here, so I think I’ll settle in pretty quickly.”
