Connor Ogilvie believes that Pompey are on the right track to have a successful League One campaign.
They came from behind to thrash Cambridge 4-1 at Fratton Park, with Colby Bishop equalising ahead of a second half blitz.
It was Ogilvie who wrapped things up after goals from Ronan Curtis and Michael Jacobs had put the Blues in a commanding position.
And the defender feels the strength of the squad will help them maintain their positive start to the season.
He said: “To come from behind and show the character that we did to get the win was really pleasing.
“We played well for long spells during the game and got the equaliser just before half-time, while the final score speaks for itself.
“It was nice to be shooting towards the Fratton End after the break and, as a lot of people say, they can suck the ball into the net.

“We were able to grow into the game and impose ourselves. I was really happy with how we performed overall.
“It’s a good start for us and although we won’t get carried away, this is a new group and we can get better.
“You can see the depth we’ve got by the guys coming off the bench and that bodes well for the rest of the season.”
Ogilvie added to his goal at Hillsborough on the opening day by converting a cross from substitute Reeco Hackett.
He said: “I just crept up at the back post and managed to get in front of their defender. It’s nice to chip in.
“That’s two for me now, which is double what I managed to get last season! Hopefully I can add a few more.
“It was great to score at the Fratton End and it does give you goosebumps. It was a special moment for me.”
