Dane Scarlett’s bright start to life at Pompey meant it might not have come as a great surprise that he netted the winner against Port Vale.
And Marlon Pack was actually expecting the on-loan Tottenham striker to find the target in Staffordshire.
He follows in the footsteps of many a Blues player who have netted their first senior goal at Vale Park.
And Pack believes that his 18-year-old team-mate will have plenty of other opportunities to celebrate as his career progresses.
The midfielder said: “I scored my first goal here, Raff (Joe Rafferty) did the same and so did Clark (Robertson).
“Weirdly enough, we all had separate conversations with Dane about that, so it was written in the stars.
"He’s been so close in previous games and hopefully this will be the spark for him. I’m sure it’s the first of many."

“Overall, I thought we battled really well and would have liked a bit more control, although Port Vale made it tough for us.

Pack – who provided the assist for Scarlett – was speaking after making his 500th career league appearance.
He said: “It’s a great thing, but I’ve got loads of football left in me and I want to keep racking up appearances in a Pompey shirt.”
