Pompey have racked up four successive victories to extend their unbeaten start to the season to six matches.
The latest success was a 3-1 defeat of Bristol Rovers at Fratton Park, which saw Connor Ogilvie, Joe Pigott and Owen Dale all find the target.
Joe Rafferty insists that the Blues will not be resting on their laurels after such a promising run of form.
But the right-back believes the spirit in the squad can go a long way towards helping them continue to shine.
He said: “It was always going to be a tough game, against a side who did well last season, so I’m buzzing with the three points.
“We’ve got really good characters in this team – that’s what the manager has built. Sometimes we might be down, but we’re never out.
"I’m miles away from home and want to do something here, so we have to keep building every single day."

The game was marred by Glenn Whelan’s foul on Louis Thompson that saw the Pompey midfielder stretchered off during the first half.
Rafferty said: “It wasn’t nice. It happened right in front of me and just seemed a really awkward challenge.
“It looked like he came right through the back of him and it was just horrible to see. It does affect you.
“Hopefully the injury isn’t as bad as it appeared at the time and that Louis is able to make a speedy recovery.
“You just feel helpless in those situations and he’s a top lad who gives his all – not just in games, but every single day in training.”
