Pompey Women’s Jade Widdows has taken a break from football to pursue a career as an officer in the Royal Navy.
The forward will continue to play for the Blues follwing her training, but is unable to commit to playing football while studying at Brittania Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.
Once her training is complete, she will return to the south coast and will be available to play for Jay Sadler’s side.
Jade said: “I’ve taken a break for the rest of this season to pursue a career as an officer in the Royal Navy. I will be undertaking training at Brittania Royal Naval College and I am so grateful for this opportunity and challenge.
“I will miss playing for the badge immensely, but I hope to represent in the Royal Navy Football Team Inter Services tournament and look forward to returning to the club for pre-season training.”
