Pompey v Coventry: Stadium Information

Test event for redeveloped South Stand on Saturday

22 July 2022

Pompey welcome Championship side Coventry to Fratton Park for a pre-season friendly on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The match is acting as a test event for the redeveloped South Stand, allowing access points and safety features to be checked ahead of the new League One campaign.

The club requested that the first league game be played away due to the building works, which are ahead of schedule thanks to the brilliant efforts of the construction team and many others who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes.

Saturday’s game serves as a test event to enable us to operate the South Stand at 75 per cent capacity, which will help towards securing safety certification for the new league season.

This means that the matchday experience will not quite be running at 100 per cent.

There has not been enough time to fully stock the new concession stands, so a hybrid dispense serving system involving mobile units will be used.

There will be a mixture of draught and bottled beer available to buy from these units and fans will see continued improvement until the concourse works are complete towards the end of September.

The Victory Bar will be open on to supporters from 12pm, but will be closed at half-time and after the game.

We would like to thank all supporters for their patience while the redevelopment work is finalised over the next few weeks.

Tickets are still available to Saturday’s match, as well as Monday evening’s Pompey Women friendly against Brighton. Click here to secure your seat.
