Pompey Visit Sheffield Wednesday On Opening Day

Blues will finish the 2022/23 season at Fratton Park

23 June 2022

Fixture list

The 2022/23 fixture list has handed Pompey a quick return to Hillsborough.

Danny Cowley’s side travel to Sheffield Wednesday – where they closed the previous campaign – on the opening day of the season.

The clash with Owls – who were beaten in the play-offs last term – takes place on Saturday, July 30.

Fratton Park hosts its first fixture the following season, with Cowley’s former charges Lincoln travelling down to the south coast.

That is one of three home games to take place in August – a midweek contest with Cambridge is followed by a clash with newly promoted Bristol Rovers.

The Blues will finish the regular season on home soil, with Wycombe making the short trip to the south coast on Saturday, May 6.

There will be a trek down to Devon to face Exeter on Boxing Day, but Pompey will end 2022 and start 2023 at Fratton Park.

A Thursday evening contest with Ipswich is scheduled for December 29, while Charlton are the visitors on New Year’s Day.

The Easter weekend includes an away match at MK Dons on the Friday, followed by a home game with Morecambe on the Monday.

Pompey’s first ever competitive fixture at Forest Green – the reigning League Two champions – is pencilled in for Saturday, October 22.

Meanwhile, Port Vale – promoted via the play-offs – is a destination the Blues have not visited for more than 20 years and that trip is on Saturday, August 27.

The season includes six scheduled midweek fixtures, which includes home and away clashes with Burton and Oxford, as well as the aforementioned Fratton meetings with Cambridge and Ipswich.

The full fixture list is below, but fans can sync them all to their digital calendar, with any changes updated automatically.
