Prodomo Appointed Goalkeeping Coach

Poke steps down from role

19 June 2022

Pompey have appointed Joe Prodomo as the club’s new first team goalkeeping coach.

He replaces Michael Poke, who has stepped down from the role for family and travel reasons.

Prodomo arrives from Bournemouth, where he had been coaching the development squad’s stoppers.

Prior to that, he had a short spell working in Pompey’s academy last summer and has also spent time at Southend.

Prodomo said: “It’s great to be back here. I was here for a little bit during the previous pre-season before going back to Bournemouth.

"When the players come back, that’s when you really feel like you’re working towards everything and the countdown to the first game begins."

“I know Toby (Steward) and Alex (Bass) from that spell, as well as Danny, Nicky and the rest of the staff.

“Those relationships are already there and that gives us a head start, but this has all happened quite quickly.

“I’m delighted to be here and really looking forward to Monday, when the players return for pre-season training.

“We’re organised and prepared for that, while I’ve been getting to grips with the style of play that we’re looking to have.

“When the players come back, that’s when you really feel like you’re working towards everything and the countdown to the first game begins.”

Portsmouth Football Club would like to thank Poke for all his hard work last season and we wish him well for the future.
