Walker: Bring It On

Striker looking forward to Ipswich test

10 March 2022

Portman Road will host a clash between two of League One’s form sides this weekend.

Both Ipswich and Pompey have now gone more than a month without tasting defeat to boost hopes of reaching the play-offs.

The visitors have won six of their past seven contests to close the gap to sixth position to just five points.

And Tyler Walker is confident that they are capable of extending their run against a Tractor Boys side sitting one place above them.

The striker said: “It’s another really big game for us. We’ve had to rest up and recover during this extremely busy run.

“You know you’re going to be in for a tough test at Ipswich and we’ll have to give it our best if we want to get the right result.

"We need to keep giving it everything to continue winning matches and climbing the table to get where we want to be."

“They’re a really big team in this division, but we also know what our qualities are and so we’ll go there with plenty of confidence.

“I think that we would back ourselves against anyone right now with the form that we’re in. You just have to say ‘bring it on’.

“We need to keep giving it everything to continue winning matches and climbing the table to get where we want to be.”

Walker opened his goalscoring account at the 10th attempt during Pompey’s midweek victory at Crewe.

He said: “It’s been frustrating at times, but it’s part and parcel of being a striker and I’ve just been working as hard as I can to help the team.

“I was one of a few new players to come into the squad in January and it does take a bit of time to get settled.

“But a lot of the guys are performing well now and we find ourselves in a really good moment, so want to keep that going.”
