Blues back on the road

4 November 2022

Pompey Women return to action as they take on Crawley Wasps in the National League on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

It comes off the back of a hard-fought 2-1 win for Jay Sadler's side at Plymouth a week ago.

Despite the hosts taking an early lead, goals from Ava Rowbotham and Emma Jones sealed all three points for the Blues.

Pompey have already hosted Crawley in the National League Cup at Fleetlands back in October.

Goals from Anisha Hill, Jazz Younger and Sophie Quirk secured confortable progression with a 4-1 victory.

But this will be the Blues' first trip to Horsham to face the Wasps, with last term's National League contest taking place in Horley.

Cherelle Khassal bagged a brace that day, although it was not enough to prevent Pompey falling to a 3-2 defeat.

Crawley currently sit at the foot of the table, with two draws and six defeats registered so far.

They did, however, come out on top in last week's National League Plate tie over Norwich, winning 4-1 to book their place in the next round.

The game takes place at Horsham FC's Camping World Community Stadium (RH13 0AX), with tickets available to buy at the turnstiles and online here.

They are priced £7 for adults, £4 for concessions and £2 for under-18s, with under 11s gaining free entry.

Ahead of the fixture, Blues boss Jay Sadler said: "We’re in a good moment and looking forward to the game.

"It provides a good opportunity to build some momentum off the back of last weekend's win at Plymouth.

"It’ll be another challenging away game. Regardless of their current league position, Crawley picked up an impressive win in the cup and we know nothing in this league is a given.
