Raggett: We Had Control

Defender frustrated with draw against Fleetwood

8 October 2022

Pompey were unable to turn their dominance into all three points against Fleetwood at an expectant Fratton Park.

But Sean Raggett does not believe there is any major cause for concern after the 1-1 draw in League One.

Josh Koroma fired home a fine strike to hand the hosts an early lead, only for Carlos Mendes Gomes to level.

And Raggett admitted that there is room for improvement in both boxes ahead of the Blues’ next outing.

The defender said: “It’s frustrating because we had total control and these are kind of games you need to win if you want to achieve what we’re looking for.

“We’re a big side and we put a lot of work into our set-pieces, so we’re really disappointed to concede from one.

"Now we just need to look ahead to the next match and try to get back on another winning run after a little blip."

“It’s one we’ll have to look back on and see how it came about to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

“I’ve always got confidence in this group and it did feel to me like the next goal was going to come for us.

“But Fleetwood slowed the game down in the second half and that’s the right thing for them to do – we can’t complain about that.

“So we have to do more to overcome that and keep things going. We weren’t quite able to do that on this occasion.

“Now we just need to look ahead to the next match and try to get back on another winning run after a little blip.

“There’s certainly no need for us to start to panic, but we’ll definitely be looking to improve in both boxes.”
