It is a start that has raised hopes of a successful season among the Fratton faithful.
And Danny Cowley is pleased with the consistent nature of his side’s performances in their opening eight games.
Pompey remain unbeaten in the league, enjoying six successive victories after opening with a couple of draws.
But Cowley still believes there are aspects of their game that can be tweaked to achieve better all-round displays.
The Blues boss said: “League One is such a competitive division and we know that on a weekly basis, anyone can beat anyone.
“So we’ve been pleased with our consistency and it says a lot about the group’s determination and robustness.
“It’s also been really good to keep three consecutive clean sheets away from home, but there are always areas to improve.
“We had a meeting with the group on Thursday morning and looked at where we could get more control and rhythm in our game.
"We’ve been pleased with our consistency and it says a lot about the group’s determination and robustness."
“But you won’t dominate for 90 minutes of every game and when you don’t, it’s about staying together and resolute to not concede. As a collective, we’ve done that well.
“We’re disappointed that the Bolton game next week has been postponed because when you’re in a good moment, you want to keep playing.
“But that does allow us to put all our energy and focus into Plymouth, knowing there’s a break off the back of that.”
The Pilgrims are also enjoying a positive run of form, sitting one place behind Pompey in the standings.
Cowley said: “We didn’t get home to the early hours after Burton and the travelling gave us time to start looking at them.
“They were very unfortunate not to get into the play-offs last season with 80 points and no doubt that will have hurt them.
“But they’ve responded well and have shown ambition to keep together a good group of players and add real quality to make them a better team.
“We anticipate a really tough test and we’re looking forward to the challenge of finding the answers to that.”
