Pompey Women maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive victory over Watford at Westleigh Park.
Dani Lane and Nicole Barrett both struck in the early stages to wrap up all three National League points.
Jay Sadler made four changes from the side that surrendered a two-goal lead to draw with Gillingham nine days earlier.
Hannah Haughton returned between the sticks, while there were also starts for Rosie McDonnell, Emma Jones and Lane.
As with other games up and down the country, a minute’s silence was held before kick-off to pay tribute to Her late Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II.
The deadlock was quickly broken, with a Danielle Rowe cross from the left being headed home by LANE at the back post.
And it soon got even better for the hosts, as BARRETT opened her account for the club by firing a shot in off the post.
The Blues were flying, but Haughton had to be at her best to not let Watford back in the contest before the break.
Annie Rossiter was first to call the keeper into action and she then made a smart save to deny Helen Ward.
Half Time: Pompey 2 Watford 0
The hosts looked to wrap things up when the action restarted and Lane’s strike was turned behind by Georgie Ferguson.
Pompey still had work to do, however, and Flo Fyfe fired narrowly wide shortly after emerging from the Watford bench.
Haughton also made another smart stop as the visitors continued to be frustrated in the final third of the pitch.
Sadler looked to his bench and made several changes to provide some fresh legs in the closing stages.
And Pompey were able to see out the final few minutes to ensure they could celebrate a clean sheet alongside their victory.
