Clark Robertson has added a few strings to his Pompey bow over the past fortnight.
The skipper stood in for the absent Connor Ogilvie at left-back against Peterborough and provided an assist for Dane Scarlett in the 2-1 win.
He remained there for Tuesday evening’s victory at Burton, but was promoted to corner taking duties and impressed with his deliveries.
Robertson has enjoyed his holiday from the centre of defence and believes it highlights the versatility present in the Blues squad.
He said: “We do a lot of work on set-pieces in training and the gaffer put me out there to take a few – he asked me where I’d been hiding that for the past year!
“There are a lot of versatile boys in this squad and you need those options because there will always be parts of the season when guys are unavailable.

“Everyone knows their roles and there’s a healthy competition, which ensures standards remain high.
“You never know what’s around the corner, but I’m looking to get a high number of games this season.
“I only missed around three weeks of training when I was injured, so I didn’t really lose my fitness and it’s great to be back playing again.
“We’ve got a little break after Saturday and that gives everyone a chance to recharge the batteries and be ready to go again.”
Pompey will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run to nine league matches when they host Plymouth on Saturday.
Robertson said: “I know the ground is going to be packed and they’ll be bringing quite a few fans down too.
“That’s what you want as a player – to be involved in big matches with a big atmosphere. We have to be ready for the test.”
