Pompey have embarked on a fine run of form to catapult themselves back into the League One promotion frame.
With nine wins – and just two defeats – from the past 11 games, it is primed to be an exciting end to the season.
But with top six hopes seemingly dead and buried a few weeks ago, there must be a secret to this success?
Not according to Matt Macey, who just believes that all areas of the side have been working hard to improve their fortunes.
The on-loan keeper said: “We’ve been on a really good run lately and have managed to close the gap on the play-off places.
“Just to be in the picture at this stage of the season, with only a few weeks to go, is really exciting for everyone.
"It’s all just come together naturally and I don’t think there’s any one area of our game that has really stuck out."
“We’ve made ourselves hard to beat away from home and kept a few clean sheets, while the boys are scoring goals at the other end.
“It’s all just come together naturally and I don’t think there’s any one area of our game that has really stuck out.
“This has all been a massive team effort – in many of the matches I haven’t had a save to make because we’ve defended so well from the front.”
Pompey will look to put more pressure on the sides directly above them when they start the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Before a home clash with Morecambe on Monday, there is a trip to face an MK Dons outfit, who have put together their own run to climb out of the drop zone.
Macey said: “Anywhere you go on the road is tough and they’ve found some good form – I think many people would say they’re in a false position.
“You also know that all the teams down that end of the table are going to be fighting for their lives, so we’re ready for a difficult game.”
