Loan Round-Up: Oluwayemi Saves A Penalty

Blues players involved in midweek and on Saturday

Several members of the Pompey squad were involved for their loan clubs in midweek and on Saturday.

Josh Oluwayemi
The keeper saved an early penalty from Will Wood in Chelmsford’s midweek match at Welling, just moments after making a fine save to deny David Kamara.

And that proved crucial, as his side went on grab a late goal to secure a 2-1 victory in National League South.

Oluwayemi was involved again at the weekend, as the Clarets earned a 1-1 draw at Havant & Waterlooville.

Toby Steward & Harvey Laidlaw
Steward continued his fine run with Gosport, helping them earn a 4-1 home win over Basingstoke before keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 success at Swindon Supermarine.

Academy defender Harvey Laidlaw made his debut by starting the first of those games, then came off the bench in the final stages of the second.

Gosport have started the season with four successive victories and are behind Southern League Premier leaders Merthyr Town only on goal difference.

Liam Vincent
The defender started Worthing’s 4-1 midweek triumph at Slough and came off the bench on their 2-1 home defeat to Aveley.

Despite that latter result, the Rebels remain at the top of the National league South table after four games.

Harry Jewitt-White
After starting the campaign on the bench, the midfielder has started each of Havant & Waterlooville’s past two games.

But it has been a struggle for the Westleigh Park outfit, with a 2-1 home defeat to St Albans followed by that 1-1 draw at Chelmsford, which represented their first point of the season.

Haji Mnoga
The Tanzania international has started each of Aldershot’s past two fixtures in the National League.

They were beaten 2-0 at Ebbsfleet last Tuesday before being denied a home win over York when their opponents netted a stoppage-time equaliser.

Destiny Ojo
The academy striker came off the bench in the second half for Poole Town in their 1-0 loss at Totton and a 3-1 home victory over Bracknell.

He almost got on the scoresheet in the latter contest, forcing a fine save from the visitors’ keeper at the death.

His Pompey team-mate Sam Folarin was not in the matchday squad for either of the games.
