Matchday Guide: Pompey v Cheltenham

Read about what is happening around the ground on Saturday

18 August 2023

Pompey fans

Pompey are back in action when they welcome Cheltenham to Fratton Park on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

And there is plenty going on around the ground to get everyone in the mood for the big game.

FanZone
The FanZone is will be in full swing this weekend, with our resident DJ spinning the decks and getting everyone pumped.

There are also some inflatable games for our younger fans to enjoy courtesy of Pompey in the Community.

And Nelson’s Corner in the Victory Lounge will have table football and a PlayStation console to keep them entertained.

Meanwhile, make sure to remain in your seats at half-time, as Hannah Haughton, Leeta Rutherford and Ella Humphrey will be on the pitch to discuss Pompey Women’s opening game of the season on Sunday, as well as the Lionesses’ World Cup final against Spain.

Minute’s Applause
A minute’s applause will be held before kick-off to remember Pompey supporter Lawrence Churcher – believed to be the last Dunkirk survivor – who passed away at the age of 102.

We will also be remembering former Blues skipper Brian Snowdon, who died earlier this week.

Food & Drink
To quench your thirst, the stadium kiosks will now be offering Madri, East Coast IPA, Stowford Press and an improved Pompey Lager Pilsner.

Supporters can take advantage of an early bird offer for 30 minutes after the turnstiles open at 1.30pm, with a pie/sausage roll and a pint for just £8.15.

Fans can also enjoy a pie and a soft drink for just £6 throughout the afternoon, while our guest pie is chicken, gammon and leek.

The shipping container behind the Fratton End will be serving chicken/fish goujons and chips, while supporters in the North Stand can visit the kiosk four mezzanine to buy pizza and Amstel.

To speed up service, beer tokens are available to purchase in kiosks three, five and 11.

Please note that only supporters seated in the Fratton End will have access to the container bar at half-time.

The Victory Bar, shipping container and external North Stand kiosk will all be open from midday.

Supporters in the North Lower should note that if the bars/kiosks get congested, there are more available in the North Upper.

Tickets
There is limited seating still available – with mostly single seats remaining – and fans are advised to buy online to avoid booking fees.

Subject to availability, fans can also visit the Anson Road ticket office (open 9am-5.30pm) or the Fratton End ticket booth on Saturday, but prices do rise on a matchday.

The ticket exchange will remain open until 11.59pm this evening (August 18), if season ticket holders cannot attend and wish to release their seat

Supporters are advised not to call the ticket office on a matchday, as phone lines are very busy.

Please note that there is a £3 charge to receive a paper ticket if you leave your season card at home.

Overseas supporters can watch all the action live with four-camera coverage on iFollow, while there is audio commentary for those based in the UK.

Additional Information
Please note that Fratton Park is a cashless stadium and only contactless payment will be accepted.

Programme sellers around the ground will still have contactless payment devices, but the club have made the decision that cash will also be accepted again while we work to ensure a more reliable contactless system outside the ground. Please note that only contactless payment can be used for programmes bought in the Victory Lounge, kiosks or club shop.

The Pompey Lottery will be roaming around the ground and selling tickets for matchday competitions, with proceeds supporting the academy.

And there is a new retail kiosk that will be available to use for supporters in the South Stand.
