Pompey’s stand-in skipper had already converted a Jack Sparkes corner when he found space in the second half to unleash a 35-yard rocket into the top corner.
The defender said: “I was getting into that kind of position and thought to myself that if I got the opportunity, I was going to hit one.
“Fortunately, it flew right into the net and it did feel like a really nice strike from the moment I connected with the ball.
"I was getting myself into that kind of position and thought to myself that if I got the opportunity, I was going to hit one."
“I don’t think I’ve ever scored any better than that in my career, although I probably should have had a hat-trick.
“Actually, I probably could have ended up with four goals because there were a couple of other chances that I couldn’t take.”
Raggett’s brace saw Pompey draw 3-3 with the young Cottagers before winning 5-4 in a shoot-out to claim a bonus point.
He said: “We dominated the majority of the game and it was a bit sloppy of us to concede three, while we could have had countless more ourselves.
“Our finishing wasn’t quite there on this occasion and so it’s really frustrating. There were so many chances.
“So we do need to sharpen up in that area and hopefully we can improve on that in training later this week.”
