Owen Dale has enjoyed the start to John Mousinho’s reign as Pompey head coach.
It began with successive victories over Exeter and Fleetwood, while only a late leveller prevented another three-point haul against Barnsley last week.
It is a sequence of results that has halted the Blues’ slide down the League One standings and seen a feeling of positivity return to Fratton Park.
And after working so hard to get things back on track, Dale wants to make sure they can continue their recent revival.
The on-loan winger said: “There’s been a bit of a change in the way we play and the lads are enjoying it – it’s suiting us quite well.
“I think we’ve seen lots of positives in the past few games and the results haven’t been too bad either.
"I’ve not really had a run like that before in my career and I know everyone will be doing their utmost to make sure it doesn’t happen again."
“The formation is one I know quite well and it allows for a bit of rotation and also possession of the ball.
“We all know that the results we had recently were unacceptable and needed to change. We’re coming out of the bad spell and we’re up for the tests that lie ahead.
“I’ve not really had a run like that before in my career and I know everyone will be doing their utmost to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Pompey have a big test to overcome this weekend, though, when they make the trip to high-flying Plymouth.
Dale said: “These are the games you want to play in and we’re right up for it. It’s going to be sold out and we know our fans always turn up in large numbers.
“It’s a big match and it would be massive statement if we can go there and win – it’s something we’re certainly capable of.
“We’re on a bit of an upward climb, so we’re looking forward to going there and hopefully getting a result.”
