Matchday Experience Working Group Update

Details from the latest meeting

10 February 2023

Portsmouth Football Club hosted the latest meeting of the matchday experience working group last week.

Consisting of a cross-section of Pompey supporters, the purpose of the working group is to meet regularly with club representatives, discussing the most important factors affecting the matchday experience and how the club delivers in these areas and can constantly improve

The group’s discussions to date have resulted in the introduction of the fanzone, which now includes live entertainment; beer tokens and pre-pour stations, aimed at reducing queues in the kiosks; and increased safety measures around the stadium.

The club have also worked with the group on a travel survey that was sent to supporters last weekend.

The results of this will help us to understand supporter matchday travel arrangements and will be shared with other stakeholders to inform the future development of Fratton Park.

Last week's meeting provided an opportunity to report on the EFL's 2022/23 Family Excellence Scheme and their mystery customer visit. Pompey scored 7.9/10, beating the average score of 7.4.

Recommendations on how to improve that were offered in this report will be reviewed by staff in the coming weeks.

Head of marketing and communications Matt Barker said: "We have a data-driven and fan engagement and consultative approach at the club and therefore we want to challenge what's been done in the past.

"To do this, we want to test, learn and work alongside as many supporters as possible, involving them in decisions that affect them the most.

"We know everybody wants slightly different things on a matchday, so hosting groups like this are a brilliant way to help decision making and for transparency of what the club is trying to achieve, as well as shedding light on some of the challenges along the way.

"We don't want to be top down. We want to listen to the supporters because we are so grateful for the support we have."

The next meeting is set to take place on Tuesday, March 28 and the club would like to thank those who have attended so far.
