It was a Pompey display that was full of standout performances – and Ryan Tunnicliffe certainly provided one of them.
The midfielder has gone from being a bit-part player to becoming a regular under new head coach John Mousinho.
He shone in a 4-0 rout of Cheltenham at Fratton Park and opened the scoring with a composed finish inside five minutes.
Tunnicliffe later teed-up Ronan Curtis to find the target and was delighted to help the Blues secure such a resounding victory.
He said: “The first half performance was the best we’ve put on this season and it was great from the lads.
“I just tried to pass the ball into the bottom corner for my goal – as all the best finishers do – and thankfully this one went in.
"Every footballer wants to be out there on the pitch and contributing and so I was pleased to be able to play a part."
“It was nice to also get the assist for Ronan. He’s a good friend of mine, so it was great to be able to put one on a plate for him.

“We knew Cheltenham would come out stronger after the break and we had to weather a 15-minute storm, while still having more clear-cut chances of our own.
“I think that all the work the new manager has done since coming to the club has shown in how we played.
“He put his stamp on things and the energy was high, we were patient with the ball and created so many opportunities.
“And it makes thing so much easier when everyone in the side is playing well – we had a lot of control.”
