Pompey made a welcome return to winning ways in League One by seeing off Exeter on home soil at the weekend.
And Joe Morrell hopes that will provide some momentum ahead of a tricky midweek visit to Fleetwood.
An evening kick-off is not ideal for what is Pompey’s longest away trip of the season in terms of time on the road.
So Morrell is eager to provide those hardy fans who are making the journey with something to cheer.
The midfielder said: “The support is fantastic and that’s a constant at this football club – it’s the same whether it’s home or away.
“We haven’t given them enough to shout about this season and that’s pretty evident when you look at the results.
"Good teams don’t just play well once and there’s no point going to Fleetwood and not matching the standard we showed on Saturday."
“So when you go to places like Fleetwood in the middle of the week, you want to make that long drive home for them a little bit nicer.
“If you’re going to be successful in this division then you have to win successive games and it’s something we haven’t done enough during my time here.
“Good teams don’t just play well once and there’s no point going to Fleetwood and not matching the standard we showed on Saturday.
“You need to win back-to-back matches and if we can do that regularly, who knows what can still happen this season.
“I’ve seen in short spells how good this team can be, but I don’t think it necessarily helps to set any targets.
“It’s probably not beneficial and it’s just about beating Exeter, going to Fleetwood and winning and trying to do the same at Peterborough. Then we’ll see where it takes us.”
