Kamara Signs On Loan

Blues bring in Norwich forward

19 July 2023

Pompey have signed forward Abu Kamara on a season-long loan deal from Norwich.

The 19-year-old – who will wear the number 25 shirt during his time at Fratton Park – made his senior debut for the Championship side in the latter part of last season.

Blues boss John Mousinho said: “Abu is an exciting young prospect, who can play across the front line.

“He’s got a really good goalscoring record for Norwich’s development side and has also made some appearances for their first team.

“Now he comes here and will be competing for a place at League One level. We’re absolutely thrilled to have him.

"The challenge for him is prove himself and break into our side – this can be a springboard for the rest of his career."

Kamara joined Norwich at the age of 10 and progressed through their academy, signing his first professional deal in January 2021.

He replaced Teemu Pukki in the 70th minute of a Championship defeat to Sheffield United to make his senior bow back in April.

That was one of three appearances Kamara made for the Canaries at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, also featuring in matches against Rotherham and Blackpool.
