The EFL have confirmed details for Thursday's draws in the EFL Trophy and Carabao Cup.
EFL Trophy
League One and League Two clubs have been placed into pre-determined groups, with consideration given to ensure travel time is minimised.
Pompey are in Southern Group E, alongisde reigning League Two champions Leyton Orient and fourth tier side Gillingham.
The latter have Oli Hawkins and Shaun Williams in their ranks, while Kenny Jackett – who guided the Blues to Wembley glory in this competition in 2019 – is their director of football.
Pompey will face one of those clubs on home soil and one away, but there will also be another Fratton contest against an invited under-21 club.
That will be confirmed when the draw takes place live on Sky Sports News from 11.30am on Thursday.
