Norris: It's A Privilege

Keeper delighted to make Pompey switch

14 June 2023

It is set to be a summer of transfer activity at Fratton Park, with Will Norris the first player through the doors.

The 29-year-old keeper has penned a three-year deal with Pompey after leaving Burnley earlier in the summer.

And he is no stranger to League One after helping Peterborough reach the play-offs during a loan spell last season.

Norris did not have to think long about a move to the south coast and is excited to start pre-season training in just under a fortnight.

He said: “I feel extremely privileged to be joining a club of this size – coming here was a no-brainer for me.

“After hearing about the interest and then speaking to the manager and Joe (Prodomo) about the project, it was an easy decision.

"It’s an intimidating place to come to and whenever I’ve been here before, it’s always been a really good atmosphere."

“They were really projective chats and he told me about his vision for the club, so I’m excited to be on board.

“The fanbase is a huge pull, with great crowds week in, week out. Everyone I’ve spoken to who has played for his club, says it’s a great place.

“It’s an intimidating place to come to and whenever I’ve been here before, it’s always been a really good atmosphere.

“I’ve been away with the family, but now I can’t wait to get going again and meet the rest of the lads ahead of an exciting new season.”

Norris joined Burnley in 2021 and enjoyed the chance to train with a couple of experienced international stoppers.

He said: “We had a really good group there and I worked with some excellent keepers in Nick Pope and Wayne Hennessey.

“It’s great to be in that environment and be able to learn from the very best who are at the top of their game.”
