Stevenson Becomes Sixth Summer Signing

Blues bring in midfielder

21 June 2023

Pompey have signed midfielder Ben Stevenson following his departure from Forest Green.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with a club option of an additional 12 months.

Blues boss John Mousinho said: “We’re bringing in a player who covers all the positions in the middle of the park.

“He’s a really good footballer and an excellent character as well, so we’re delighted to have him at Pompey.

“Ben will be looking to add a few more goals and assists to his game, but he’s got all the attributes we’re looking for.

“I think he complements the guys we already have in the building and has an important role to play off the pitch, as well as on it.”

Stevenson came through the ranks at Coventry, turning professional in 2015 and making his debut in a Carabao Cup win over Pompey the following year.

He also played the full 90 minutes for the Sky Blues when they beat Oxford at Wembley to lift the EFL Trophy in 2017.

Stevenson joined Colchester following a short stint with Wolves and made almost 100 appearances for the club.

He was part of the side that stunned Crystal Palace and Tottenham to reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, where the adventure finally ended at Manchester United.

Stevenson then moved to Forest Green in the summer of 2021, helping them secure that season’s League Two title.
