John Mousinho insists there will be no complacency when Pompey welcome League One’s bottom side to Fratton Park this weekend.
Forest Green head to the south coast sitting 11 points adrift of safety with just eight matches remaining.
But a 17-game winless run came to an end last Sunday with a shock victory over high-flying Sheffield Wednesday.
And with Pompey looking to close the gap on the top six, Mousinho is glad to have had a free week to prepare for the fixture.
The Blues boss said: “It’s been good to have consecutive days on the training pitches – which has been a rare occurrence since I’ve arrived in the building.
“Hopefully we can take some of the ideas we’ve been working on and put them into action on a matchday.
“I wouldn’t say we’re in the last chance saloon because there are still plenty of points to play for, but we certainly understand the importance of this game.

“Forest Green had been unlucky in a few games before they beat Sheffield Wednesday last week, when they didn’t look like a side cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
“They were full of confidence and well organised – they were good value for the three points and definitely can’t be underestimated.”
Paddy Lane limped off with a hamstring injury during last week’s draw with Port Vale, but should be back before the end of the season.
Mousinho said: “He had a scan and it’s not quite as bad as we initially thought – we’re probably looking at around 2-4 weeks with him.
“It’s settled down relatively well and there’s still a spell on the sidelines, but hopefully that will go by quickly.
“There are no new injury updates from the weekend, other than Marlon Pack has been back training with us and should be available for selection.”
Saturday sees Pompey start their 125th anniversary celebrations, with several former players attending the game.
Mousinho said: “It’s brilliant to be part of that milestone and it will be great to celebrate that history over the next year. We should all enjoy it.”
