Portsmouth Football Club have worked alongside the Pompey History Society, Pompey Supporters’ Trust and Pompey in the Community to create a 12-month-long programme of initiatives for the 125th birthday celebrations.
The home match against Forest Green on Saturday – just four days before the milestone anniversary itself – sees the first of a series of events that have been planned to celebrate the occasion.
At least 30 former players will make the trip back to Fratton Park, stepping onto the pitch at half-time to be presented to the crowd.
They will also take part in Q&A sessions in the Victory Lounge, Fanzone and hospitality lounges before meeting and greeting fans.
The game will see the introduction of a new 'Champions of England' display, containing memories of the title-winning sides of 1949 and 1950.
Ticket holders in the North Stand will be able to view the wall in the west mezzanine concourse bar.
Bespoke 125-year merchandise will also be available to purchase in the club store, with more details to be announced later this week.
Finally, supporters can soon write their name in history and be part of the legacy by pre-ordering a copy of 'The Official History of Portsmouth Football Club'.
Further information on the planned activities will be released in the lead-up to next weekend’s League One clash.
