Colby Bishop has been named The News/Sports Mail Player of the Season.
He follows in the footsteps of Sean Raggett, who lifted the trophy at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Bishop was the runaway winner of the prestigious prize, which is voted for by readers of our local newspaper, and is the first striker to claim the prize since Peter Crouch in 2001/02.
He has enjoyed an excellent debut season on the south coast, notching 24 goals since arriving from Accrington.
Wales international Joe Morrell came second in the voting, while Connor Ogilvie finished in third place for the second year in a row.
Previous winners of the award include Alan Knight, Noel Blake, Guy Whittingham, Alan McLoughlin, Arjan de Zeeuw, David James, Glen Johnson, Enda Stevens and Matt Clarke.
Bishop was also named Player of the Season by a dozen supporter groups, while he won the Players’ Player of the Season prize at Tuesday night’s awards dinner.
